At the 17th and final Monster Energy® AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, race at the RCA Dome, Yamaha’s Chad Reed, of Tampa, Fla., won the main event in front of 57,284 fans. Torco Fuels Honda’s Trey Canard, of Elk City, Okla., won his second consecutive Eastern Regional AMA Supercross Lites class race and leads the points standings.

Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey to Race RM-Z450 at Indy SX

Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing announced today that AMA Supercross Lites West Coast contender Ryan Dungey will make his Supercross-class debut on the Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana, this Saturday, March 2, 2008.

The 2007 AMA Rookie of the Year for Supercross/Motocross, Dungey won the first two Anaheim Lites events and led the championship points chase for much of the season.  After a few tough rounds, however, the 18-year-old rider is currently in second-place overall with just one round remaining in the West Coast Region Supercross Lites class.  That final race is at Seattle’s QWest Field and isn’t scheduled until April 26, 2008.

Reed podium streak curtailed in Atlanta

Yamaha’s Chad Reed finished off the AMA Supercross podium for the first time this year after a crash during the main event of round eight of the series at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta meant that the Australian crossed the finish line in sixth position.

The 30th SX event in Atlanta (the first was won by Bob Hannah with a Yamaha) would not see Reed extend his career tally of podium results to 81. The YZ450F rider won his Heat, and also grabbed the holeshot, but slipped off his San Manuel machine while holding the lead after five laps and need the rest of the 17 minute sprint to clamber back to sixth spot. The 25 year old left the Georgia Dome promptly, after gingerly picking up 15 points.

Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing’s David Vuillemin celebrated another strong AMA Supercross result on Saturday night in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome. The Frenchman’s night began with a fifth-place finish in his eight-lap qualifying heat race and then ended with a ninth-place finish in the 20-lap main. After battling injuries for the first two months of the season, this is the third weekend in a row that Vuillemin has brought home a top-10 result. Vuillemin’s Supercross-class teammate Mike Alessi is still recovering after breaking his collarbone at the San Diego round and did not race. In the AMA Supercross Lites class, Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Nico Izzi made his Pro debut by taking the win in his six-lap heat race and then following that up with an impressive top-10 finish in the 15-lap main.

Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing’s David Vuillemin enjoyed a top-10 finish in AMA Supercross for the second weekend in a row, this time on Saturday night at Houston’s Texas Reliant Stadium. The Frenchman rallied after crashing hard in his heat race and took the win in the Last Chance Qualifier. In the 20-lap main, Vuillemin got a rough start but soldiered on aboard his Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 to bring home an impressive 10th-place finish. Vuillemin’s Supercross-class teammate Mike Alessi is still recovering after breaking his collarbone last week at the San Diego round and did not race.

Reed maintains podium record with 2nd position in Houston

San Manuel Yamaha rider Chad Reed saw his run of five consecutive victories come to an end in Houston for the seventh round of seventeen in the 2008 AMA Supercross series, a FIM World Championship, but the Australian continued his 100% podium record with second position and guards a 32 point lead in the competition.

The 42nd Supercross in Houston did not witness a fourth straight sweep for Yamaha in both classes even though Jason Lawrence did also climb the rostrum in second spot in the Lites West Coast category to remain poised at the top of the standings with one round to go.

THOR’s Chad Reed charges in San Diego

Wearing a one-off San Diego Chargers inspired Thor helmet, THORs Chad Reed charged it for a win in San Diego.

In the main event, Reed hunted down holeshot winner Davi Millsaps to grab the lead in lap 2. Reed stayed one step ahead of Millsaps for most of the race until lap 12 where Reed stumbled in the sand section and gave up the lead. Reed was determined to get back in front and worked his way up, passing Millsaps and taking his 5th win of the season. Reed leads the season point standings by 35.
In the Lites class, THORs Brett Metcalfe had a rough start to the night he had to come through the LCQ to make the main event. Then in the main, Metcalfe had to work his way up from outside the top 10 to take 4th place. Metcalfe sits in 3rd in the season point standings, with his teammate Thors Austin Stroupe sitting in 5th overall.

Team San Manuel's Chad Reed Sweeps CA with Another Win in San Diego

Chad Reed won yet again, this time at San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium at round six of the 2008 AMA Supercross Series. But it was far from a run-away victory for the Team San Manuel rider. This San Diego race, before a crowd of 64,251, was host to one of the most exciting Supercross class battles to date.

Reed began the night by setting the fastest qualifying time with a 50.508 lap on the tough, sandy, San Diego track.  San Manuel team-mate Nathan Ramsey also qualified in the top ten, with a 52.631lap landing him ninth fastest for the day.

In a fight to the finish, Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Timmy “Red Dog” Ferry rode to an amazing second place finish at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. After winning his heat race Red Dog adapted to a tricky track, and with a last lap pass in the sand, earned his second-straight podium finish. His teammate Travis Preston finished 14th. In the AMA Supercross Lites class, Motosport Xtreme Kawasaki’s Tommy Hahn raced to a second-place finish. Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Brett Metcalfe battled through the pain of a bad ankle to finish fourth while teammate Austin Stroupe finished seventh.

Red Bull Honda’s Davi Millsaps, of Cairo, Ga., jumped out to an early lead as he won the $1,500 Progressive Holeshot Award. Reed followed Millsaps through turn one in second place and moved into the lead a few turns later.

Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey, of Belle Plaine, Minn., has three races left in the Western Regional AMA Supercross Lites championship to win his first championship. He’s learning that the road to winning a championship is never smooth. He left Anaheim 1 with a three-point lead over Jason Lawrence. He went into Anaheim 2 nine points ahead of Lawrence. Heading into San Francisco, he was 22 points ahead of Broc Hepler. He led Dan Reardon by 19 points heading into Anaheim 3. It was that night in Anaheim, where he crashed a few times that his commanding lead diminished to eight heading into San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium tomorrow night.

The Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing team’s return to Angel Stadium for the third race in Anaheim, California, on Saturday night saw Mike Alessi pick up another impressive sixth-place finish. So far this year, Alessi has had sixth- and fourth-place finishes at this venue. Teammate David Vuillemin finished 14th, and was still recovering from popping his knee out at last weekend’s race. In
fact, the Frenchman flew home to France last week to have his personal physician work on the leg and he was still feeling the effects of the injury on Saturday night.

Chad Reed Takes Anaheim's Tripple Crown and Fourth Win of Supercross Series

On one of the most technical tracks we've seen this season, a sold-out crowd of some 45,000 fans watched San Manuel Yamaha's Chad Reed win the Anaheim Supercross Triple crown, Saturday night, February 2nd, 2008.  With his third victory at Angel Stadium, Reed became only the second rider in Supercross history to win all three Anaheim Supercross main events in the same season!

Chad began the night by setting the fastest qualifying time with a 54.536 lap on the highly technical track.  San Manuel Yamaha teammate Nathan Ramsey also began on a high note, qualifying for the program and landing in the same heat as Reed.

Reed won the $1,500 Progressive Holeshot Award in the AMA Supercross class main event and never looked back. Torco Fuels Honda’s Kevin Windham, of Centerville, Miss., followed Reed trough turn one with Red Bull Honda’s Davi Millsaps, of Cairo, Ga., in third.
